This summer when the AIA approved the plan to return to activity, they also set the metrics that must be met for a sports season to begin. If you followed the news in the Fall you know that several Fall sports were delayed as we waited for those metrics to be met. Thankfully they were met, and all of our Fall sports have had a chance to compete. Some Fall sports continue to compete as the rule determines when they start but does not stop a season once it begins. We are hopeful that our Winter sports will also be able to get started and enjoy a successful season, but unfortunately at this time our county does not meet the metrics (please click here for the current metrics for Winter Sports as of Nov 5th). The AIA rule states that the metrics must be met for two consecutive weeks so the earliest we will be able to start Winter sports will be November 23rd, if the metrics from the two previous weeks are in the yellow or green.
In the meantime, our district is allowing teams to continue off-season workouts under strict safety protocols: temperature checks, safety screening checklists upon arrival, and masks at all times unless physical distancing. We are grateful for this opportunity.
We will continue to work with AIA and our district to keep you fully informed and updated. Thank you for all you are doing to help all of us stay safe.
