Boys Varsity Swim & Dive, Girls Varsity Swim & Dive · Knights Swimming and Diving Make a Splash at State


At the 2019 AIA State Swim and Dive Meet on November 6th and 7th at the Skyline Pool the Higley Knigths made a huge splash:

  • Keaton Jones completed an amazing Freshman season by winning the State Title for 500 Freestyle and came in 2nd in the 100 Back Stroke.
  • Brylee Heywood finishes strong in her heat taking 2nd in the 50 Freestyle and 11th overall. In addition, she won her heat in the 100 Freestyle and finished 9th overall.
  • The Women’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Megan  William’s, Phebe Wood, Rebecca White and Brylee Heywood took 14th overall and was one second from breaking the school record for a second time.
  • Jaxson Scown, Senior, swam the 50 and 100 for the last time breaking his personal record two times at state, once in prelims and again in the finals where he finished 8th overall in both his events.
  • Caleb Wehmeir dropped 6 sec in prelims and another 3 seconds in the finals in the 500 Freestyle for a  personal best  and 14th overall finish.
  • Men’s 200 Medley Relay consisting of Keaton Jones, Bailey Gent  Dane Shillingburg and Jaxson Scown placed 9th while almost breaking the school record.
  • Maddie Ferrel and Caleb Lamoreaux both made the Dive Finals with Caleb claiming a 7th place medal.
  • Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay consisting of Caleb Wehmeir, Mathen Cattani, Jaxson Scown and Keaton Jones placed 5th at state in a nail biter highlighted by the team coming within 45th hundredths  of a sec from breaking the school record.
  • Dane Shillingburg made it in the 100 Fly Finals.
  • Rebecca White broke her record in the 100 Fly for third time!
  • Sabrina Lingenbrink dropped 5 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley.
  • Other valiant Knights that competed at the AIA State Championship meet include: Kylie Aldridge, Gracie Chesley, Elizabeth Johnson, Liberty Tilus,  Ethan Nutall, Hannah Wunderlich, Makenna Fagrell, Madelyn Scheerhorn, Lia Wengert.
  • The Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay team qualified for the Meet of Champions along with Keaton Jones in the 100 Backstroke and 500 Freestyle.  Keaton placed 3rd in the 100 Back Stroke and won the gold in the 500 Freestyle at the Meet of Champions.
